Do you qualify as an angel investor?
Angel investing is more accessible than most people assume
UK rules ask every angel to self-certify under one of two investor categories before they invest — and many of our members are surprised to find they qualify comfortably
High-net-worth individual
You qualify if, in the last financial year, you either earned £100,000 or more, or held net assets of £250,000 or more (excluding your home, pension and certain policies).
Self-certified sophisticated investor
You qualify if, in the last two years, any one of these is true:
• You worked in private equity, or in financing small or medium-sized companies.
• You were a director of a company with £1m+ annual turnover.
• You’ve belonged to a business angel network or syndicate for at least six months.
